New GB update - beards are now perfectly ok (no really!)
by FFGhost into save y’all the agony of having to sit & watch lett (looking even more puffy and jaundiced than the last time), here is a summary:.
beards are now perfectly fine for anyone & everyone, including ministerial servants, elders, and “special full time servants” (cos and betheliites).. but don’t go and feel “vindicated” — even if you knew you were right about beards, you shouldn’t run ahead of jehovah’s “chariot”.. so there you go.. if you need explicit permission from a puffy steroid addled facial contortionist with an increasingly ridiculous combover to make personal grooming decisions…you might be in a cult .

What does God eat ?
by stan livedeath inbeans ?
( human beans ).
to those of you that believe in god: do you all believe the same thing ?.

i suppose if people do believe in god--then, to them He is real. But How do they perceive him? Is he a giant invisible man in the sky ? Do these people have this belief to compensate for something missing in their lives ? Or is it some kind of guarantee of living after death?
How many members on here came to believe in god as adults rather than having it stuffed into them as children ?

Beans ? ( human beans )
But--seriously. to those of you that believe in God: do you all believe the same thing ?
For instance--do you believe that God is a HE ?
Is He invisible?
Where is He?
How big is He ?
How long has He been ( bean!) in existence ?
Is He bigger than the universe ? or is He inside you ?
Please participate.

Are Atheists Hypocritical in Celebrating Christmas?
by Sea Breeze inrichard dawkins revealed that he celebrates christmas on radio four's today programme.. here is is quoted as saying: .
'i am perfectly happy on christmas day to say merry christmas to everybody,' dawkins said.
'i might sing christmas carols - once i was privileged to be invited to kings college, cambridge, for their christmas carols and loved it.

Theory on the GB "new light" pushing back the final judgment.
by Jofi_Wofo ini know there are several threads already on this "new light", but i didn't see one that covered this particular angle.. since the gb seem to have an ulterior motive for everything they do, well beyond their publicly stated reasons, i began to wonder why they would be concerned with pushing back the closing of the window of jesus' judgement.
this is especially puzzling because the doctrine of the start of great tribulation being the final cutoff was one that the gb seemed to especially revel in for so long.
they could hang it over everyone's heads as a looming threat.

JWLITE
by Teddnzo ineven elders can be part of the new jw lite brigade these days.
they don’t need to go on door to door anymore and there is no requirement for anything really.. taking meeting parts is all dead easy you could turn up on the day with zero preparation because it’s all in the meeting workbook.. quarterly elders meetings are just old men having a good old natter just like old men do down the pub.. congregations could be likened to pubs or bars these days just without the drinks, those come at other times.. no need for territory maps, these almost went away with covid letter writing now they are extremely slow getting finished as those who still go door to door only do ten mins.. you could even voice your questions these days about things the gb say and then just say “we can’t be dogmatic we just don’t know”.
i predict they will say this about 1914 soon..

Oddly enough--when i got any remaining ties severed--by them--in 1981, i never gave it a thought that it was NOT the truth--just that i didnt want to be a member of it. Its only really since ive been on here over the last 12 years or so, ive come to realise it really isnt the true religion at all. Its just a big business with a few million members.
In my mind--there is no such thing as a real live god--only a long history of men who believed there is.-but that proves nothing--just confirms that man made god to explain what men didnt understand .

Nepotism and Simony
by NotFormer ini've read on here about connected families within congregations who seem to get all the "privileges".
how likely is an elder's son, or other relative, to rise within the ranks?.
i imagine it's harder to do it that way once you start to ascend the ranks.

I get confused with Simony and sodomy--or do they mean the same thing ? Trying to get up someones arse

“You know how I know that they're finished out there? The carts.”
by Athanasius inthe watchtower's many legal problems and the jws' use of carts in their preaching work, reminded me of a scene and dialog from the film patton.. in a scene where patton is viewing a battle site the morning after, he says to an aide about the nazis: “you know how i know that they're finished out there?
in my dreams i saw the carts.
they kept buzzing around in my head and i couldn't figure out why.

13 million--out of a global population of...how many ?
If there were no vaccines--how many would have died from covid--? Any guesses ?

It’s started 🤦♀️
by MissDaSilva ini already have a friend who is trying to tell me that my mental health is causing my disillusionment with the jehovah’s witnesses.
funny that a mental health therapist has told me my mental health issues are caused by being a jehovah’s witness.
i’m still not going back.

“Actually, I could do with a few extra quid to get some Christmas presents and some decent grub for Christmas dinner - how about getting your wallet out Brother Brown?” 😆
Has to be worth a shot at least.Actually--this is something i have suggested on here a few times. Ask the elders for a loan to get you through a difficult time--Big gas and Electricity bill ?--a few ££ hundred would really help. Stress its just a loan....
Just do it--what have you got to lose ?
